About Pastor John Kelly
My name is John Kelly and I am from the Bangor, ME area. I have been in pastoral ministry for over 10 years and have been married for over a decade to my lovely wife Crystal. We have been blessed with 6 children.
It is my desire to plant a reformed church in a place I have grown to love. I believe the Lord Jesus Christ is the answer to the greatest needs in the life of every person on the planet. My desire is to evangelize the sinner, exalt the Savior, and to encourage the saints.
Beliefs
Northwoods FPC is a church plant of the Free Presbyterian Church of North America. Our doctrine is based on the Westminster Confession of Faith.
The Westminster Confession of Faith is a document containing 33 chapters of doctrine. It was first put together in 1647 and has been used extensively since then to help ground churches in the teachings of the Bible.
The Free Presbyterian Church of North America, however, has added a few additional statements, including an open-policy on baptism so that baptists can be members and serve within the denomination. This has made the FPCNA a place for baptists looking for a faithful church and traditional worship.
FAQs
What should I expect in a worship service?
Our worship services include expository preaching, congregational singing of psalms and hymns, prayer, and the observance of Communion and Baptism. The atmosphere is reverent and focused on glorifying God.
How should I dress?
You’ll see a range of attire from relaxed to more formal clothing. We believe worshiping God should be done respectfully, but there is no set dress code—come as you feel comfortable.
How can I get involved?
There are many ways to serve and get connected. The best thing to do is to attend services for at least six weeks in a row. That will help you get a feel for our church. Then you will be better equipped to decide if you want to invest your time and energy into our church. Feel free to speak with Pastor John Kelly to learn more.
